I was driving back from a DJing gig in Surrey a few weeks ago and this awesome song came on Radio 2. It was a live acoustic session by a guy named Mark Butcher. It sounded really bluesy and got me singing at the top of my voice in the car (probably totally out of tune!). At the end of the interview the presenter said that he was playing at the Latest Music Bar in Brighton 2 weeks later. So I put a reminder in my phone and went along. The band are amazing and the songs are really funky and danceable (but with great melodies too!). I happened to bump into a friend randomly at the gig and he new Mark from his school days. A good night was had by all and I’m hoping to colloborate on a remix of one of Marks tunes in the future.
